VeRO adapts to your deployment model. Whether Bazefield manages your environment or you self-host, there’s a path to AI-powered operations.

Bazefield-Hosted (Azure) Recommended

We manage the full AI stack in Microsoft Azure — LLM access, API management, monitoring, and scaling. Nothing to deploy.

  • Enterprise Azure OpenAI with regional data residency
  • Anthropic and Google models routed via Azure API Management
  • Per-customer isolation — single-tenant, dedicated keys
  • Usage dashboards and configurable budget alerts

Customer-Hosted Cloud (AWS / Azure)

Your Bazefield instance runs in your own cloud subscription. Bring your own LLM API key — we provide the VeRO platform and MCP server.

  • VeRO installed alongside your existing Bazefield services
  • Customer manages LLM provider and API keys
  • Full control over data residency and network policies
  • Lower cost — no Bazefield LLM markup

On-Premise (IT Network) Supported

VeRO works on on-premise Bazefield installations where the IT network permits outbound HTTPS traffic to cloud LLM provider endpoints. BYO LLM is enforced — customer provides their own API key.

  • Requires outbound HTTPS (443) to your LLM provider endpoint
  • Customer IT team must whitelist LLM API domains (e.g. api.openai.com, api.anthropic.com)
  • Firewall rules, proxy configuration, and egress policies vary per client
  • Bazefield provides a deployment checklist — IT review required per customer
  • Data stays on your network; only LLM API calls traverse the internet

On-Premise (OT Network) Not Supported

VeRO is not available for air-gapped OT/SCADA networks. AI features require outbound internet access to cloud LLM APIs, which is incompatible with industrial cyber security frameworks governing critical infrastructure.

  • NERC CIP (North America) — prohibits unapproved outbound connections from BES Cyber Systems
  • IEC 62443 (International) — requires strict zone/conduit segmentation for industrial control systems
  • NIS2 Directive (EU) — mandates risk-based cyber security for operators of essential services
  • AESCSF (Australia) — Australian Energy Sector Cyber Security Framework for critical energy infrastructure
  • We are evaluating on-premise LLM options (Llama, Mistral) as a future research track

Data Privacy & Security

VeRO never sends raw SCADA data to LLM providers. AI prompts contain structured query context — site names, KPI values, and aggregated statistics. Your time series, proprietary models, and control configurations stay within your Bazefield instance. All LLM communication is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3), and Bazefield-managed customers benefit from per-tenant API key isolation through Azure API Management. Enterprise customers can further restrict data handling via DPA addenda.

Simple, per-MW pricing
VeRO uses the same $/MW model as Bazefield — no per-seat fees, no per-token charges. Every portal user gets AI access. Volume-based rates, one line item on your existing invoice.

How much will tokens cost me?
If you bring your own LLM API key, token costs are paid directly to your AI provider — not to Bazefield. Use this calculator to estimate your monthly and annual spend based on your team size and usage patterns if you go the BYO route.
Scenario Active Users Questions / Month Tokens / Month LLM Cost / Month LLM Cost / Year
Assumptions: Working days per month: 22. Token counts are based on observed VeRO production usage, where individual questions range from 300 tokens (simple lookups) to 11,000 tokens (complex multi-step investigations with several tool calls). The default average of 5,000 tokens reflects a typical mix of quick queries and deeper analysis. 10–20 questions per user per day is a reasonable range for active operations engineers — covering morning checks, alarm triage, ad-hoc reports, and investigation workflows. Smart Mix reflects realistic multi-model routing: 25% GPT-4.1 ($6/1M), 25% Gemini ($5/1M), 25% Claude Sonnet ($11/1M), 25% Claude Opus ($60/1M) — blended ~$20.50/1M tokens. Individual model rates use published API pricing as of May 2025. Actual costs will vary based on your negotiated enterprise rate and prompt complexity.
Common questions about VeRO
What data does VeRO send to the LLM?
VeRO sends structured query context — site names, KPI values, aggregated statistics, and alarm descriptions. It does not send raw SCADA time series, proprietary models, or control configurations. All communication is encrypted with TLS 1.3.
Can I switch LLM models later?
Yes. Model selection is a configuration change, not a migration. You can switch between GPT-4.1, Claude Sonnet, Claude Opus, and Gemini 2.5 Pro at any time. VeRO’s smart routing automatically selects the best model for each query, or users can override the model per question via a dropdown.
Is there a limit on the number of users?
No. VeRO is licensed per Bazefield instance, not per user. Every portal user with the appropriate role gets access to the AI chatbot. No seat counting, no per-user fees.
Is there a usage limit?
Your plan includes a generous monthly AI credit allocation sized for your portfolio. You’ll see a usage bar in the admin area showing how close you are to your allocation. If you go over, VeRO keeps working — no throttling, no cutoffs. Overages are billed at a modest premium on your next invoice. You can also purchase a credit pack at any time to top up your allocation and avoid overage rates entirely.
Can we use VeRO on-premise?
Yes — on IT networks that permit outbound HTTPS traffic. VeRO needs to reach your LLM provider’s API over the internet. Your IT team will need to whitelist the relevant endpoints and configure any proxies or firewall rules. Bazefield provides a deployment checklist and works with your IT department to resolve site-specific requirements. BYO LLM is enforced for all on-premise installations. Air-gapped OT/SCADA networks are not supported due to NERC CIP, IEC 62443, NIS2, AESCSF, and other industrial cyber security frameworks that prohibit or restrict outbound internet access from control system environments.
Can we bring our own LLM provider?
Absolutely. Select “Bring Your Own AI” in the model chooser above and pricing drops to $15–25/MW/year based on portfolio size — a platform-only fee. You provide your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Azure OpenAI, or any compatible provider. Your IT team controls model selection, API routing, and data residency. Available for both hosted customers with enterprise AI agreements and self-hosted Bazefield deployments.
How is VeRO billed?
VeRO is priced per MW with volume-based rates, just like your base Bazefield license. It’s added as a line item on your existing contract — same billing cycle, same invoice. SaaS customers see it on their monthly or quarterly bill. Perpetual license customers see it alongside their support billing. No separate billing system, no token counting, no surprises.
What is the Bazefield MCP Server?
The MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server is an API layer that exposes 50+ renewable energy data tools in a format that any AI agent can use. It’s what powers VeRO under the hood, and it’s also available standalone for developers and integrators who want to connect their own AI agents to Bazefield data. MCP Tools are included in VeRO Core — use them with Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any MCP-compatible client using your own API key. Also available as a separate product.
Can we rename VeRO to match our brand?
Yes. VeRO can be renamed to whatever fits your organisation. The AI assistant name, branding, and terminology are fully configurable within the portal — your users will see the name you choose.
